![]() ![]() But when I change the notes in the first measure to the way they were originally, the ties disappear. If I temporarily change the notes in the previous measure, go to the next measure and add the backward ties, they appear. I can get that to work IF the previous notes are the same notes. In Speedy Note, from the pull down menu it says "Option + =" is a backward tie. Never knew that command existed, so I tried it.it isn't really working. Also, you can apply a Shift T backward tie in the first measure of any system. But that should only need to be used if the Shift T method fails. P.S.: There is another way using the Speedy Tool Edit Frame. Shift T in either Speedy or Simple will do it. There are occasionally differences between the 2 platforms. Possibly it works in Windows but not Mac. Now that my trick isn't working anymore, it behooves me to see if there's a way to force ties that I'm unaware of. Years and years ago I remember that Finale had some way that supposedly forced ties, but it never worked. As far as I know, Finale has never been able to force ties in a 2nd ending or Coda system, but at some point I figured out that if I copied tied notes from a 1st ending and pasted them into the 2nd ending, the ties would be copied also. I'm doing my first project with Finale 2012 and have found that it won't force ties in a second ending like previous versions of Finale.
